About the studio
Marina Soler trained in interior architecture in Barcelona and spent seven years coordinating flat renovations where the outdoor strip was always saved for “later.” She started Kindred Harbor Terraces in 2019 after watching clients spend more evenings outside once a single usable seat and a reliable shade line were fixed. Partner Jordi Valls came from landscape horticulture, with a practical eye for container soils, irrigation, and species that tolerate Poble Sec heat as calmly as a shaded Gràcia court.
The practice stays small on purpose. Two people measure, draw, and follow sourcing so notes from the visit still match what arrives in the lift weeks later. We work from Carrer de Consell de Cent 312, close enough to most Eixample clients that a mid-morning sun check is a short walk, and a short metro hop from Gràcia or Sant Antoni when the brief sits farther out.
A usable outdoor edge is not a showroom. It is a path you can walk with groceries, a chair that stays put in August wind, and a plant list that forgives a week away.
What we refuse to ignore
We decline oversized lounge sets that block the door or exceed slab load estimates. Every proposal starts with railing height, neighbour sightlines, and the route you take with a child in arms or a laundry basket. Building community rules matter here: we note what façades allow for screens and planters so you are not asked to undo work after a meeting in the courtyard.
If a railing looks unsafe or a drain suggests a waterproofing fault, we pause furniture talk and point you toward a licensed technician. Design fees in euros stay separate from contractor invoices; we do not mark up retail so you can compare supplier prices without decoding our quote.

Weekday visits usually fall between mid-morning and early evening, when sun angles show how heat and glare actually behave. Drawings stay lean — plan, elevation notes, shopping list — so decisions do not wait on a thick presentation deck. Spanish and English conversations are both welcome; site notes follow whichever language helps the household move faster.
We would rather leave one empty metre than fill every centimetre and make the door a daily argument.
